Been getting occasional spam from a domain, to which I keep forwarding to assp-spam@my domain.co.uk, getting the okay email back.
Then again a day or so later getting spam mail from the same domain and going through the same procedure again, which does not seem to work with this spam.

I see from the email that the domain is the same, but the sender (before the @) is a different code.

Is this the reason why this spam is still getting through.

Does ASSP only block the spam based on the domain.

If so, is the only way to block it, to set up a filter (user or account) .

Also can we see the whitelist/blacklist that ASSP uses, or is this a general list for the server(Sun)

I think you can put

_ALL_@domain.com

To block the whole domain.

Thanks gary.
First of all I have to take back the bit about the sender.
The senders address is the same before the domain as well. I was looking at the reply address.

So why is this spam coming through if the address has been added to assp-spam@. So should be on the black list

When you forward a domain to assp-spam you are training the ASSP spam detection heuristics. It won't out right block a domain name. For that you should use the cPanel filters.

Thanks,

Andrew

Thanks.
I will add the filter to the account and see if that stops it.

Hi,

I'd be interested to take a look at these as ASSP tends to be very good at spam filtering, if you can PM me some examples of the spam messages you have received in the last 48 hours I will investigate if there is a reason for this.

Regards,

Darryl

If available that would be handy, if not then providing the from/to address, subject and time should be sufficient, thanks.

Regards,

Darryl

Hi,

I have taken a look but the emails you have sent me do not appear to be spam, whilst they do have spammy content it appears to be from an opt-in mailing list that will have been subscribed to whether directly or indirectly at some point.

You should visit this page which contains their unsubscribe link to remove the email address: http://focusimplement.info/files/unsubscribe.htm - there are multiple unsubscribe pages, if you access the sending addresses websites the pages all look the same but they are at different addresses, I am not sure if you will need to unsubscribe from each one or if a single unsubscribe will do. The mail is all being sent from an email marketing company via their genuine mailservers so would not be marked as spam.

Regards,

Darryl

My Mum says she cant remember signing up for this company, so what I may do is set a filter to simply discard mail from the domain which I think I can do within cpanel?

Hi,

Yes you can set that up, as they are mailing from multiple domains you would need to use multiple filters. It's almost certainly not that company that would have been signed up with, they are just the advertising company. Most likely it's something that was signed up for with one of those "We may share your details with carefully selected partners, please check/uncheck the box" etc. spiels that you will find with many newsletters, website registrations etc. these days which ends up adding your email address to marketing databases which are then often sold.

Regards,

Darryl
