Back ground colour in Form Mail

I am trying to insert some back ground colour tags to signify mandatory fields.

I use the Net Hosted Form Mail cgi script, but I am having trouble finding the right variables to add colour the input field.

I've done a lot of web searching, but am starting to think that the specific form mail cgi used here has a different method of making the input fields have a different background colour.

Has anyone done it ?

If so, what is the additional code I need ?

Wouldn't you just add some CSS to your HTML input tags? I don't see why you would do this with variables.
