hi there
Am just setting up a website for a new client who's just signed up with you. I notice on the welcome mail he got, it said this:
Please note: NetHosted requires that you access FTP securely, please select the "Auth TLS" (or equivalent) option in your FTP client to login to your FTP account. There is a guide for setting up FileZilla here.
and I've just tried to connect via the same FTP client I've been using for years and it's telling me the above error message.
All my other NetHosted sites allow me to FTP without any problems. What's going on? I'm not going to have to change my FTP client am I, as that's going to be a right pain...
cheers

Hi,
Any reasonable FTP client should support connecting to the server securely, as stated we enforce secure FTP so you need to enable this setting in your FTP client.
If you specify which FTP client you are using I can look for how to do this or you can check yourself, it should just be an option in the connection settings.
Regards,

| I've been using WS_FTP for as long as I can remember. I can't see any secure options in it - it's a cut-down version. How come it works for all my other sites? |

WS_FTP appears to have supported securely connecting via TLS since 2006 according to this changelog from the software author: http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/WS-20050906-DM03.htm
Your other sites are on different servers, we have enforced this on new servers for over a year and plan to for all future servers due to the increased security offered.
