Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know how easy it is to copy an existing modified magento store to another store, I currently have a store setup on one server and I want to install this also on my other server, once this is working I can change the design to suit my new website?

I have tried installing a fresh install and then copying the files over the top with not much success. I would also need the database moving as this has been modded.

Any help would be welcome.

Kind regards

Adam

Adam,

The process basically involves copying all files, exporting the existing database then importing this into a new database then updating the configuration files with the details for the new database. I would then recommend searching the database via PHPMyAdmin for any reference to the old domain and updating this to the new domain.

Regards,

Darryl

Hi Darryl,

Do you know where the configuration files are located?

Regards

Hi,

You should look in app/etc/local.xml and app/etc/config.xml - I would recommend taking a full backup prior to this move in case any issues are encountered.

Regards,

Darryl

Hmmm,

Having some real issues getting this working!

I have uploaded the whole site. Imported the database and changed the file app/etc/local.xml.

But still it is coming back with an error meassge when trying to access the frontend or backend of the site.

Is there any specific files I need changing?

Think it may be easier to install a new magento store and upload a new theme.

Hi,

What is the error message?

The changes I mentioned above are the minimum needed but it may be necessary to make some other changes.

It would certainly be easier to do a fresh install and install a theme if that's all you require, if you want to give some more details of what is happening in a support ticket I can take a look at this for you.

Regards,

Darryl
