I tried to install DRupal using Fantastico. At first i had a message telling me to delete "public_html" folder, which i did. I then installed it and received the messages below. Could you please tell me how to correct this?

Thanks,
Alistair

Hi,

I'd be very surprised if it explicitly told you to delete your public_html folder. Perhaps it told you to remove the .htaccess file in it? The errors are due to the fact you now don't have a public_html folder. I've re-created it for you so you should have no problems installing via Fantastico now.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi Ali,

If you are going to be using any additional (contributed) Drupal modules then I'd suggest using a manual installation (or at least, trying to manage a customised installation using Fantastico is known to cause problems since it doesn't know what to do with the extra bits and is liable to delete them!).

To do a manual install you just need to unpack the tarball using cPanel, create a database, create a database user and assign all permissions, and then navigate to the "home" page of the Drupal site. It should automagically run the Drupal installer for you. Finally you may need to modify a couple of file/folder permissions, as prompted by the installer.

I always do it this way

Good luck!

I been playing but I've install a new Drupal install with Fantastico (yes I should go manual but I'm crashing and burning at the moment) the problem is it's saying I should upgrade?

/ (6.10) Visit site Remove Upgrade to 6.10

I'm guessing I've got a file somewhere which say different but?

Hi,

Is there a problem upgrading, not quite sure what the issue is here?

Regards,

Darryl

Ah right fair enough, Fantastico does have a few oddities, nothing to worry about though!

Regards,

Darryl

Drupal 6.12 http://drupal.org/drupal-6.12 was released on May 13, but Fantastico is always one or two point versions behind. If you were running a big community site you might want to upgrade to close a couple of security holes, but if it is just a playground/sandbox there's no real need to.

just adding a note to say that CPanel is not really up to the task of maintaining a drupal install that you install plugins afterwards,

just had this bad experience over the weekend.

Nicolas,

In what way? The process of installing modules to Drupal is very simple and we've had no reports of any problems in the past.

Thanks,

Andrew
