I seem to remember that there was some discussion about an embedded (in the browser) text editor to allow Word-type users to mark up text as a wysiwig thing.

It then produced the HTML code to put into web pages.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Can't properly remember the discussion in question, but I'm guessing that TinyMCE  is the kind of thing you are after. I believe there are others though.
