hello

i am trying to login to my site via ftp/sftp and i am getting errors all the time.
i have checked the password.

i have also installed and tried to use filezilla - but that i more confusing still

on cPanel it says that SFTP port is but on the configuration file for filezilla it has port 22

see below:

Code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="true"?>

<FileZilla3>

    <Servers>

        <Server>

            <Host>ftp.brainpowered.net</Host>

            <Port>22</Port>

            <Protocol>sftp</Protocol>

            <Type>3</Type>

            <Logontype>0</Logontype>

            <TimezoneOffset>0</TimezoneOffset>

            <PasvMode>MODE_DEFAULT</PasvMode>

            <MaximumMultipleConnections>0</MaximumMultipleConnections>

            <EncodingType>Auto</EncodingType>

            <BypassProxy>0</BypassProxy>

            <Name>ftp.brainpowered.net</Name>

            <Comments/>

            <LocalDir/>

            <RemoteDir/>

            <SyncBrowsing>0</SyncBrowsing>

            ftp.brainpowered.net

        </Server>

    </Servers>

</FileZilla3>

any suggestion on how i can connect to this server?

since i am using linux debian i could use Nautilus as well - but it is failing with those details found on cPanel.

thanks,

Nicolas

Please follow the steps in this knowledgebase article: http://www.nethosted.co.uk/knowledgebase/ftp/using-filezilla-to-connect-to-ftp-securely.php

Alternatively you can use sFTP just make sure you set your FTP client to sFTP. You need to login with your cPanel username and password.

Thanks,

Andrew

sorry for being so annoying (it is not intentional)

but i am trying to post iCalendar using Thunderburd and it only use FTP and there is no support for SFTP.

but when i try to connect using the same details through FTP - i get the error above

Code:

421 Sorry, cleartext sessions are not accepted on this server

so how can i connect using non-encrypted (FTP) only?

thanks a lot,

Hi,

For security reasons we do not allow non-secure connections via FTP on your server.

Thanks,

Andrew
