Hi

Is there a problem with FTP at the moment? Am trying to update a couple of pages on my website and, even though they're tiny files, they seem to keep getting stuck halfway through uploading them (and the two live pages are now corrupt as a result).

Help!

Hi,

There is no problem with FTP however Virgin Media is experiencing some issues connecting to our servers at present. It looks as though you are on Virgin Media so this is likely the problem, if you want to email me the files on darryl at nethosted.co.uk I'll upload them for you.

Regards,

Darryl

If you have a few moments spare it would be useful if we could get some MTR traces from VM customers to pass onto the network team to see if there is anything they can do about it, possibly not if it's in VM's network but it may be possible to change the route/carrier traffic is going through.

You can download winMTR here (you don't need to fill in the form you can just click the download button):

http://winmtr.net/winmtr_download/

If you enter your website in the host box and start it, letting it run for a while then click the copy text to clipboard button and paste it here it would be handy.

Regards,

Darryl

Just looking on the VM forum and other people having problems access other sites like HSBC, some having problems with speedtest.net. Some are using the VM webcache proxy (webcache.virginmedia.com poirt: 8080), which I think is http only, to get around the problem.

Garry,

Ah right that's interesting to know, at least there is some kind of workaround.

Regards,

Darryl

Has somebody gone through a cable somewhere? I'm currently failing to get to http://www.southern-electric.co.uk (from a Newnet line) though nethosted is fine.

Not sure, southern-electric.co.uk appears down for me too, but that's nothing to do with us (We don't host it!)

Regards,

Darryl

Hi,

Just read on the VM forum, that someone phone and spoke to VM and they say it is a routing issue and should be fixed within 24hrs

Garry,

Thanks very much for posting this, reassuring to know they are on it we have had a fair few customers contact us regarding issues with VM, shame that we are helpless to do anything. One person who contacted them told us:

Quote:
Just to let you know that after 50 minutes on the phone to Virgin my client was told there was nothing wrong...

and that was at 4PM, clearly not the best communication in their support dept. but I'm not that surprised.

Anyway fingers crossed they manage to sort it out soon!

Hi

Having FTP problems yet again - getting Connection Timed Out errors.

Is this a known problem?

Cheers
