Right,

I'm set up with cambriansoftware.co.uk apart from my e-mail, which is proving to be a bit challenging.

I've got accounts set up for info and support which are the two current addresses I give out. I would've just stuck with the default but I'm bored of enlarging my manhood and collecting prestige watches now.

Anyways, seeing as I'm not in the office fun with Thunderbird will probably have to wait until tomorrow now.

What I did have set up is POP access from my googlemail account so that my mails get picked up and I can read them either on my mobile or at home on my lappy. This setup suits me fine at the moment. But I can't log in when I add POP access to either info or support now. I've had it all from unrecognised username or password to a problem with SSL due to the port.
I take it I should be using venus.solardns.com? What else?
Googlemail does ask for the port number, defaulting to 110 and only gives a limited choice by dropdown, what should it be?
Anything else I should be looking for?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

As for tomorrow, let's hope Thunderbird plays nice.........

Diolch.

Hi,

Where can you not login?

To login to POP3/IMAP or Webmail for a specific mailbox you should use the login name of the form:

mailboxname+domainname.co.uk

and the password is the one you set on the mailbox when created.

We only allow secure access to our services on the server you are on. Therefore for POP3 access you need to be using port 995 as your incoming port and make sure you select the relevant SSL related options in your mail client.

To prevent security certificate related errors you should use venus.solardns.com as the incoming and outgoing server name.

Thanks,

Andrew

I think that'll be the culprit there Andrew.

I'm using googlemail and importing my e-mails with POP (not Google Apps - one day) so that I get them picked up on my mobile mainly. I was thinking it was a port number but there was no clear instruction there and google wasn't much use either.

I'll report back.

Diolch.

Yup, the port number did it.

Thanks for that. The other option was to try all the option googlemail gave me in their drop down list for port numbers.

One other thing I noticed is that with my account with you, I get SMTP settings too. With previous hosts it was just a case of using my ISP's SMTP servers. This means I can send my e-mails through NetHosted too right? If that's the case, I can change my googlemail account so that return e-mails to customers will appear to come from one of my cambriansoftware.co.uk mailboxes rather than gogglemail. As you can imagine with customers (like me) the littlest thing will set them panicking!

Plus it means being able to do more from my phone whilst out on the golf course...........

Hi,

Glad that worked.

Yes we offer full SMTP services, it is included in your account and you can therefore send email through our servers

Thanks,

Andrew
