Anyone here using ModX? http://modxcms.com

It seems like a very easy (and free) way to add CMS capabilities to a website. I have a small project coming up which I think this would be well suited to but I'd like to know of your experiences if you've used it.

Although I have no personal experience with ModX we have certainly noted an increase in the number of pre-sales questions asking about it. We fully support it on our service and we know plenty of our clients are using it successfully on their sites.

I've used it - it's good. Gives you a lot of control, so it's down to you how your markup comes out.

I did http://abacus-accountancy.com/ with it.

Thanks for the comments!

MODx has a good community, too - you're very likely to get help if you get stuck.

Others I'd recommend a look at:

http://silverstripe.org/ (some nice content-editing features, possibly easier than MODx for some uses)

http://symphony-cms.com/ (love the clean approach, but it requires learning some XSLT, which I've yet to do)

This looks like it should be helpful to those thinking of MODx: http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/other/working-with-a-content-management-framework-modx/

I'm currently developing 3 sites using ModX, there's some learning curve and it doesn't do everything right out of the box(but there's plenty of add ons and support). Really flexible. PM me if you need any more pointers or opinion.

Cheers, Mark.

Have had a look at this and really like it, done a site in it this week and it's much nicer to work with and gives better results than Wordpress/Drupal etc.
