Hi,
I have an existing domain and hosting package with another provider (PurpleCloud). I'm not very happy with their service or reliability, so I am considering moving. Please could you advise me on how I could move my service to nethosted? I know that PurpleCloud allow free transfers out.
I have an IMAP mailbox with PurpleCloud at present, is there an easy way of transferring my mail from that mailbox to a new one with you?
thanks,
Nick |

Hi Nick,
Do Purplecloud use cPanel? If so it's possible to take a full cPanel backup of your account which we can restore here for you, this would copy your mail across as well as your site and settings. If they do not offer this then the best way to move your mail is to download it all to your mail client and then upload it to our servers via your mail client once you've moved over. This can usually be achieved just by dragging and dropping it from one account to the other in your mail client.
When you register you can select the option to transfer your domain here, for most .tld such as .com/.net/.org you will need a transfer code from your existing registrar, for .co.uk you do not need this but you will need to ask them to change the IPS TAG to NETHOSTED. This will all be prompted as you go through the order.

thanks for the quick reply. Purple Cloud use Plesk as their control panel, so I guess this isn't compatible.
Email transfer I think I can do via Thunderbird, although I guess I would need to ensure I have all email at the time they do the transfer - what would happen to email between me downloading it, and them doing the transfer? I guess it would dissappear, as my old hosting would be wiped at this point?
I have a .org.uk, so hopefully the transfer will be easy.
thanks for your help.

Nick,
Unfortunately Plesk won't be compatible for a direct transfer. If your account is still active their end then you will be able access it still via IP, however if they terminate it straight away then this would not be possible it really comes down to their policy. I would recommend taking a copy of all your mail prior to letting them know anyway, just in case.
For a .org.uk you will need to get the IPS TAG changed to NETHOSTED, this usually just involves a support ticket requesting this, it's very simple to do for them. You should not request this change until your account is set up with us though.
