My MySQl database - can't connect to it from CMS MS [solved]

Hi. I wonder if someone can help this newbie with mysql prob?

I have used cpanel to set up a database garfield_cms on my site with user garfield_cmsuser. I am running the install for CMS madesimple on the site and when it tries to connect to this database it complains :
"Could not connect to the database. Verify that username and password are correct, and that the user has access to the given database."
this is the info I gave CMSMS:

Database Type: MySQL (compatibility)
Database host address: localhost
Database name: garfield_cms
Username: garfield_cmsuser
Password: <I put the password here>
Database port ( If you don't know, leave this blank to use default settings. ) : <left blank>

Obviously according to cpanel this database is there with this user and password, so I'm lost... help?

Hi,

All these settings appear to be correct and it appears the database is correctly setup with the user added. Do you mind if I go through the CMSMS installer and try to set this up?

Hi,

You should be able to do this now, it appears your MySQL socket file was missing, we've recreated this for you now.
