Hi,

Yes you will need to get them to change the IPStag on the domain over to ours which is: NETHOSTED

Once this is complete you can place an order for the transfer via the client area.

Thanks,

Andrew

ok, I want to transfer a .com domain over too. However, I see that it'll cost £11.99 to transfer it over for just one year. There are other sites that will allow me to transfer the name to them for free. Is it possible to take it to them but still have the physical site hosted with you and 'point' to it?

cheers

Hi,

A .com transfer costs £11.95 and includes a one year extension on the life of the domain. You can point a domain to our service without transferring it to us by simply changing the nameservers on it to the ones listed in your welcome email.

Thanks,

Andrew

ok, I'm just transferring one of my .net domains away from my current hosts right now to another holder. I want to physically host the actual site with you guys though as part of my package. What do I need to do to set it up and sort out the FTP, etc?

Hi,

You need to add the domain as an Addon Domain via cPanel, you will then be able to manage the domain in cPanel to setup FTP, Email accounts, etc.

Regards,

Darryl

Sorry, it's not quite clear. I've ended up creating a sub-folder under another of my existing websites but, I don't want it like that - I want it to be completely separate - i.e. a 3rd distinct site sitting alongside the other two, with it's own FTP details, etc. Is this possible?

The site will be placed in a subfolder as an Addon Domain, but this does not make a difference to it's functionality. If you place files in here then it acts as this domain's public_html/ folder. You can create it's own FTP login via the FTP Accounts page and it's own mail accounts via the Email Accounts page.

Regards,

Darryl

Ok, I've managed to create a new "account" that sits alongside my two others that I can now see in the main (WHM) Control Panel. Do I need to do something to physically set up the directory to FTP to as I'm now trying to login via FTP but getting this error:

can't get "ftp.mydomain.net" host entry
connection failed ftp.mydomain.net"

Sorry if these are dumb questions...

Hi,

Have you updated the nameservers on your domain so it points to the server? If not try using the server IP temporarily, you can find it in your welcome email.

Thanks,

Andrew

Just a quick question on this if I may.. I have a domain name with 123-reg which I have changed the IPStag on to NETHOSTED, should I now proceed to place the order in the client area on Nethosted straight away or do I have to wait 24 hours? This domain name already points to a website which is hosted on your servers, so does that mean I don't need to update DNS? If I do need to update them, are there special name servers I should use or are the suggested defaults that were already filled in for me OK?

I am doing this for a client so it is not in my personal Nethosted account, however I do have full access to their Nethosted account.
The domain name is up for renewal in 14 days so I thought this would be as good a time as any to transfer it out of my personal account and into theirs so they can pay for the renewal.

Hi,

It's not necessary to wait until the IPS tag has updated before placing the order, but the actual transfer won't complete until the IPS tag has changed.

There won't be any need to update the nameservers if they are already using the correct ones, these remain the same through the transfer process.

Regards,

Darryl
