My son is currently on a temporary stay with us and has brought along his apple laptop. He is keen to install a word processor and looking around I see that there is now a native port of OpenOffice for the Mac - NeoOffice.

Has anyone here installed and used this piece of software?

His laptop is well over a year old now but I believe it is Intel duo based with 512MBytes of memory running OSX 10.4.11, which appears to meet the minimum requirements.

As ever, any and all input appreciated.

I used this once before it had a native port. It wasn't that impressive. Hopefully now it has gone native it will be better!

I use NeoOffice, it's excellent! Make sure you download the correct binary (Intel / PPC / Universal). The database took me a while to get used to but perhaps that's because I never really used a modern one before then (I last used i7 if anyone remembers that; it was a Lotus clone for MSDOS).

The Mac OS integration is excellent too, far better than Adobe Photoshop I might add (they seem to be in a world of their own these days).
