Simpleviewer is easy for off the shelf ones, I used it here http://www.kirstycrawford.tv/gallery/

I've not used any of these but saw them the other day http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/indexb.html

Coppermine (install from Fantastico) is quite good
Have used it a few times - and easy to install...
Give it a try - if you don't like it - you can always kick it out ...

They also have something called Director which gives a backend administrative interface to the gallery.

I've used it to give a client control of their gallery here: http://trim-star.co.uk/slideshow.php

I have just tried Gallery from the Fantastico installer, I think I actually prefer it to Coppermine as it's very simple and works along the same lines as WordPress.
