Thanks to TDK, scratched CDs and LCDs may become a thing of the past .

Speaking of discs, Angular DVDs may offer terabyte storage on single disc

Because it's not backwards compatible (more than just for players) and there are two backwards compatible technologies being developed (HD-DVD and the angular one I just posted here a second ago). But if it lasts as long as Sony's other formats...

EDIT: The TDK technology will make combination drives more plausible, but still they'll be much more expensive.
