uploading a temp page to public_html

Hi I am having issues uploading a temp page to the public_html folder of my friends Nethosted account.

We are using the coffeecup FTP program, and get the following error, "the program could not find the specifed server"..

do we need to set up a specific FTP account, and does it require the @(domain name) in the username or server fields?

Hi,

You must use secure FTP (FTP with TLS Auth or similar option) on Venus. Coffecup does not support this. We recommend using FileZilla instead.

Thanks Andrew, shocked to see someone else up at such a crazy hour.

That program worked a treat, just wondered if you know how to upload a file from Dreamweaver CS4? Am a bit stuck...

Hi,

We recommend using secure WebDAV to connect when using Dreamweaver.

getting a bit stuck on WebDAV and dreamweaver.. what is the URL for WebDAV and the username and password? Sorry to seem so dumb.

Use your cPanel username and password. Use venus.solardns.com as the URL. Port 2078.

am back...

sadly we get stuck, so I have copied into Notepad the issues we get:

FTP Error Occured, cannot make coonection to host,
Dreamweaver could not connect, because the server is down or not accepting connections.

So I need to check these details to be safe...

What is your Host Name?

What Folder on the Server do you want to store the files in?

What is you FTP Login

What is your FTP Password?

then is asks this:

- How do you connect to your remote server?

None, FTP, Local/Network, WebDAV, RDS, Microsoft Visual SourceSafe?

Am really getting stuck, and so is my mate..

Hope you can help.

Hi,

If you use the WebDAV option as I outlined it should work. I don't have Dreamweaver here to test the exact combination of settings it requires though I'm afraid but my best guess is:

For the hostname enter: https://venus.solardns.com:2078

For the username/password enter your cPanel username and password.

cheers Andrew, if that fails... I am gonna get him to revert back to FileZilla which WILL connect to the remote server..

No problem, I'll see if we have a copy of Dreamweaver on a PC here that we can use to test this out to get the exact settings necessary and if so we'll write up a knowledgebase article. As you say FTP via FileZilla is always there as an option!
