Using FileZilla to connect to FTP securely

To download FileZilla FTP client go here: http://filezilla-project.org/

Once this is installed here are the steps to connect to your NetHosted FTP account securely:

Click File Menu => Site Manager
Choose New Site

In the pop up box enter:

	Host: ftp.yourdomain.com Port: 21

	Servertype: FTPES - FTP over explicit TLS/SSL

	Logontype: Normal

	User: Included in welcome email

	Password: Included in welcome email

Hit connect, a window will pop up saying Unknown Certificate, select Always trust certificate in future sessions in the bottom left and hit OK, you’re now connected.

Using Windows FTP Client

You may encounter an issue using FTP directly from Windows due to the format of the FTP username which contains the @ symbol also used in the full FTP address in Windows of the format ftp://username:password@site/. As cPanel FTP usernames also contain an @ this can confuse the application, the way around this is to substitute the @ with a +, so a username such as test@nethosted.co.uk would become test+nethosted.co.uk.

By far the most common case of failed FTP logins is use of an incorrect login name format. The correct format for FTP login usernames on our web hosting is:

ftpaccountname@yourdomainname.com

If your domain is www.yourdomain.com and you’ve created an account called mary via the FTP tool in cPanel the login details would be entered as such:
