I currently have the email hosting package. I would like to host a forum. Which hosting package do I require?

I see that you support phpBB and SMF, have you any experience of hosting vbulletin http://www.vbulletin.com/index.php? How does it compare to the other two.. apart from the price.

Hi Bro,

It's possible to start off hosting a forum on the Basic Plan which is our smallest hosting package at £34.95/year. As your forum grows you may need to upgrade but this can be done as and when required.

vBulletin is probably the best forum software around but of course does come at a cost, most of the large forums use vBulletin so I suspect it scales very well.

Darryl

Is that 34.95 in addition to the email hosting fee, or do I pay the difference?

Hi,

That would be the price if you got it as a seperate package, you can upgrade to it via your Client Area which will give you a pro-rated cost. If you view your existing package in the Client Area just choose upgrade and select the Basic Plan and it will give you the cost for this.

Darryl

hi there,

i also plan to purchase a package with view to running vbulletin (3.8, or possibly upgrade to the latest - 4).

when you say "upgrade" is this due to the amount of bandwidth/server load should the forum become frequently visited?

thanks.

Hi,

Typically people need to upgrade to obtain more disk space or bandwidth as their site proves more popular. In some rare cases people need to move to VPS/Dedicated solutions as their sites have become so popular that they are frequently impacting other users on the server they are on.

Thanks,

Andrew

I can't see any reason why this wouldn't work if you have subscribed to the topic. It works for me!

perhaps its a function built in to the "moderated post" (when i post I am told it will be checked by a mod first) function?

Edit: although that didnt happen on this post.
