Hi all,

I have set up a webspace for a client but until his existing webspace expires in sept he can't point his domain to it as his old site is still live.
How can he log onto any applications to create his new site as the ip address/~clientname/ from WHM just gives 404 not found.

Could you/he not create a sub-domain and point it to NH and setup the sub-domain as a parked domain in cPanel on NH?

Hi Paul,

You could do as Garry mentioned, and simply create a subdomain, point it to 213.129.84.87 then add the subdomain as a parked domain via cPanel. Or he could edit the HOSTS file (http://www.nethosted.co.uk/knowledgebas ... -linux.php) to view the website temporarily on our server.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Brad

Unfortunately with the limitations on his current account creating subdomains isn't an option, and he doesn't want to mess with the hosts file as he would have to do it on multiple machines.
What happened with the ip link to access a site before a domain name resolved ??
Is that still available to use before a domain name is moved over to us ??

Do you have a spare domain you can park on it?

Hi Paul,

I'm afraid the IP URL will no longer work for accessing accounts on our servers. If you/he has a spare domain this can be used instead of a subdomain when parked on the account, otherwise the HOSTS file edit is the only possible way. Apologies for this!

Kind regards,
Brad

EDIT: Garry beat me to it! :)
