Post subject:  eAccelerator - Turck MMCache Replacement

Dear Admins,

The Turck MMCache project has been picked up by a new developer group. The free opensource project is called "eAccelerator".

I am not sure how this may impact users currently relying on MMCache, but I am sure those who do use MMCache would also be excited about this new project. Please consider taking eAccelerator on board!

Thanks again for your services! Keep up the good work!!

Regards,
Tim

I had a look but the project doesn't seem to be updated too often, it's still not compatiable with our version of PHP!

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for taking a look.

It's not updated too often, but it's built on MMCache, and at least much more updated the MMCache version we are using.

Have a cup of coffee, sit back a bit and then take a second look, please?

I will - just as soon as they officially support our version of PHP! :)

Support or compatible?

I have a version of xampp which is running PHP 4.3.10 with eAccelerator. But it's running on a Windows platform.

Once again, I'm no expert though.

Tim,

It'll more than likely work yes, but I don't like risking a production server with software which isn't listed as compatible. Stability is the word here!

You seem very interested in the product, do you develop it?

Thanks for enlightening me.

I am interested in the product because I am excited to see a new product after the MMCache project has been abandoned. If xampp decided to incorporate that, I thought it meant eAccelerator might be becoming a main stream alternative to MMCache for web servers.

It's okay. I trust you will keep an eye on goodies for us!

Now installed, I read others had had no problems with our version of PHP!
