Post subject: | eAccelerator - Turck MMCache Replacement |
Dear Admins, The Turck MMCache project has been picked up by a new developer group. The free opensource project is called "eAccelerator". I am not sure how this may impact users currently relying on MMCache, but I am sure those who do use MMCache would also be excited about this new project. Please consider taking eAccelerator on board! More info: http://eaccelerator.net Thanks again for your services! Keep up the good work!! Regards, Tim |

I had a look but the project doesn't seem to be updated too often, it's still not compatiable with our version of PHP! Andrew |

Hi Andrew, Thanks for taking a look. It's not updated too often, but it's built on MMCache, and at least much more updated the MMCache version we are using. Have a cup of coffee, sit back a bit and then take a second look, please? Tim |

I will - just as soon as they officially support our version of PHP! Andrew |

Support or compatible? I have a version of xampp which is running PHP 4.3.10 with eAccelerator. But it's running on a Windows platform. Once again, I'm no expert though. Tim |

Tim, It'll more than likely work yes, but I don't like risking a production server with software which isn't listed as compatible. Stability is the word here! You seem very interested in the product, do you develop it? Andrew |

Thanks for enlightening me. I am interested in the product because I am excited to see a new product after the MMCache project has been abandoned. If xampp decided to incorporate that, I thought it meant eAccelerator might be becoming a main stream alternative to MMCache for web servers. It's okay. I trust you will keep an eye on goodies for us! Tim |
