Post subject:  Wireless DSL Router Recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good Wireless Broadband Router? Should have all the usuals such as built-in 4-port switch and so on.

I've had two or three NetGear Routers (DG384G/GT) and they've all stopped working somehow (wireless network disconnections, broadband disconnections, blue smoke & funny smells etc...).

Thanks.

Richard

Hi,

I would not suggest Linksys. I've had one of them for a while and it rarely comes back up after a reboot and has been known to just go down for no reason what so ever and only a complete powerdown, power cord out, restart type job will get it working again.

I'm afraid I don't have any positive suggestions!

Funny you should say that Andrew, I was actually considering getting a Linksys WAG200G. Which model have you been having trouble with?

Hi,

I have used a Belkin wireless router, didn't think much to that and I currently have a Linksys WRT54GS v5.1 which I have had the last 2/3 years not really has much problem with it

I have a Linksys WAG354G. I just wouldn't be able to recommend Linksys based on the issues I've had.

Perhaps it's best for you to look at a router you'd be able to put or firmware on.

After trawling the TBB forum about a year ago I replaced my wired D-Link with a Thompson SpeedTouch 585 v6 and it has proved an excellent choice for me - rock solid connection, good speed and well featured.

I purchased a refurbished unit at a very nice price from but a quick check there shows they aren't offering any at the moment, however it is available new from their sister site .

Regards,

Pete

Thanks for all your help guys. Still not sure what I'm going to go for, a bit more research is necessary I think.
