Hi,

Does https make a bit enough differences with Google ranking, for a site to go with it?

Hi Garry,

Straight from the horses mouth as it were: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot. ... ignal.html

So they do use SSL as a ranking tool, how much it of a difference it makes only the Google engineers know! It's probably something that will become standard or expected as time marches on. We have a plan to implement this ourselves in the comings months for example.

Having done this I would say it makes very little difference and if you don't implement it properly you can crash a site overnight.

I would say any boost is equal to what you lose doing the 301 to the https.

The way we have it setup is everything uses the https and do a 301 redirect.
