Would just like to ask how you have php set up.

A lot of hosts seem to be moving from Apache module to cgi recently - which are you using?
The cgi version does seem to have security benefits, at the possible expense of speed...

Also, when will you have php5 available?
And, is it possible to install my own cgi programmes (eg php6 when it comes out ) in my own webspace?
For that matter, would I have access to my account above the web root?

Any chance of seeing a screenshot of a typical cPanel page, for Linux/Apache/php versions etc?

Thanks for your help. :)

(btw having some problems with things live "v" vs "r", "l" vs "1" in the confirmation code!)

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in NetHosted!

We currently run the Apache module and have no thoughts of changing at this time. cPanel takes care of what (major) versions of PHP we run. When it deems PHP5 compatiable and stable with the release cycle we subscribe to we will upgrade. I can't give a date on that! You can run any CGI program you like as long as it doesn't break our TOS, however you don't have access anywhere above /home/username/.

We run current kernels and PHP 4.4.2 and MySQL 4.1.18 on the server you'd likely go on if you were to come onboard.

We've had to upgrade our visual confirmation mod as the old, standard, phpBB one is very easy to crack for the spammers now!

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi Andrew, thanks for your reply- that pretty much covered what aaai wanted to know.
By "above my webroot" I meant at /home/username/ so that's OK.
