Hi,

We're still in the process of getting a domain name (ryedale-att.co.uk) transferred over to our control, and would also like to change registrars (the current registrar is the cause of all the problems and the reason for transfer).

Can we transfer the domain name to you and have you as the host and registrar? We would like the domain name to be owned by us (we would be the registrant?)

Can you please advise what steps we need to take and what information we need to provide the current registrar with etc in order to transfer to you? Is Nominet involved, is that something the current registrar has to do? What if they ignore our requests?

Sorry if this is a common question! All this registrar and registrant stuff is new to me.

Hi,

You can certainly transfer the domain to us. The process is quite simple:

1) Get the current registrar to change the IPStag on the domain to ours which is: NETHOSTED

If they ignore your requests only then should you get Nominet involved.

2) Place a transfer order for the domain via the client area (£5)

The registrant/owner stay exactly the same through the process.

Thanks,

Andrew

Thanks for the advice Andrew. Forgot to mention that we would also like to update the registrant address (it is currently the registra's). Could we (or you) do this once it is transferred or is this also something the current registrar must do?

We don't yet have a hosting plan with you, I presume we should do this before transferring the domain.

Hi,

We can update everything on the domain (address, registrant type etc) except the domain owner name. This must be changed by Nominet for a fee, I believe around £10 last time I checked.

Thanks,

Andrew
