 Post subject: Moving host
PostPosted: Sat Jul 11, 2009 7:08 pm
I am considering moving to your service but have a couple of questions.

1. My current host uses cPanel 11 as I note you do. Can I simply do a complete backup from within cPanel and restore it here.

2. I own both the .com & .co.uk version of the domain name. Can they both be transferred to here at the same time, they are currently registered at different places.

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in NetHosted!

1. You can provide us with this full backup and we can restore it.

2. Yes they can.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Andrew

Thanks for that.

Thought of 1 more question though. Does the size of the database count towards the disk space?

Hi,

Yes it does. In our experience database size plays a very small part in filling quotas.

Thanks,

Andrew

Thanks for the quick response.

Is this the best way of transferring?

1. Create account here
2. Do cPanel backup at old host
3. Provide you with the cPanel backup - how?
4. Does this recreate the databases as well?
5. How long would this take approximately?

Apologies for asking so many questions, never had to move hosts before.

Hi,

Yes these steps are right. We'd actually create your account so you can upload the backup there for us.

4. Yes: emails, databases everything will be recreated.

5. Five minutes...

Thanks,

Andrew

Have now signed up here and submitted a ticket to have the backup restored. Thanks for all the help so far.

I haven't moved the .co.uk domain yet so can I just point the nameservers to here until I do?
