This seems like a fairly simple question, but not something I've needed to do before, and no obvious answers from searching...

Is there a way to protect a directory and link it to the cPanel details for that account - so the current user (and root) can login with their usual details (and everyone else is kept out), without needing to explicitly re-specify the password?

(In cPanel, there's a "password protect" option, but it appears to be for arbitrary user accounts - not linked to the cPanel ones, and so requires specifying the password.)

Ideally, a single .htaccess I can copy to multiple accounts/directories with at most one change (currrent account) would be good.

Peter,

There is no way to do this I'm afraid.
