I use imap , with PostBox as an email client but do not use any spam filtering from postbox.

When using ASSP I believe the spam in the spambox was cleared 30 days after arrival automatically.

With the dissapearance of the Delaying filter of ASSP, it appears that more spam is actually sent to the folder(it's doing its job), but due to this fact far more spam is being held.
Can the clearance of the spam folder be automatically done more often.

I know that I can delete myself more often but if it was done 30 days after recieving a spam why cannot it be done lets say every 15 days.

Or am I wrong and the feature is a feature of the mail client.

Hi,

ASSP had a feature to automatically delete spam from the spambox folder, but this is no longer available. You may be able to configure your email client to delete email in folders at a certain point though, I know that Thunderbird supports this but it will vary depending on the email client that you use.

I'm sure everyone will have an opinion on this but it's a choice we made after some years of testing, whilst some functionality is lost others is added such as custom scoring that is user definable. Ultimately swapping from one system to another is always a trade-off unless we can find something better in every aspect, we certainly did look, but of course there is no perfect anti-spam system and from those we tested this was the best based on the criteria we assessed it to.

For the vast majority of people this will be an improvement, and we have to be pragmatic about these things. There were not only frontend usability issues with ASSP but also backend functionality and compatibility issues with cPanel, hopefully you can accept these reasons behind the move, as I'm sure I have mentioned before MailScanner was tested for years by us before this switch, it was a very considered change.
