Anyone know much about http://dearcomputer.nl/gir/ doing a quick search it comes up with its a Google image ripper?

I don't understand your question - what is it that you want to know?

Only thing I can think is you're wondering how it's done from a code perspective?
If so, it's just a simple HTTP request, parsing the results with a suitable XPATH expression (to select all the image links), then looping through those and outputing to the page.

It was more of a question along the lines of should it be blocked as people will be using it to 'steal' images, or is it more along the lines of Google images, so can be left alone?

If that makes sense?

Ultimately, it's Google Image Search, with a different interface.

It might make it a tad easier for people to find images, but it's difficult to say whether those people will be infringing the image's copyright (versus exercising rights of fair use) any more than people using regular Google Image Search.


Not really much point blocking either of them.
