Another recommendation for MSE here, I've been very happy with it and consider it as good if not better than many of the paid solutions I've used. Previously was a fan of NOD32 but feel it has become somewhat bloated lately.

Hmmm well I've installed MSE and it did a quick scan :) in about 20 mins but now MsMpEng.exe is running full tilt whenever the PC is idle. 45 mins of CPU used so far. This looks like it is something that came with MSE rather than MSE itself; when an MSE scan is in progress it is supposed to show this by changing its system tray icon...

[update] all seems to have quietened down now... :rofl:

Never had a virus problem with Mac OS X! In fact, with Firefox and NoScript / AdBlock I don't think I've had any nasties even come near my hard drive (usual tell-tale signs are unrequested .exe files in the download folder).
