Because it's not backwards compatible (more than just for players) and there are two backwards compatible technologies being developed (HD-DVD and the angular one I just posted here a second ago). But if it lasts as long as Sony's other formats...:lol2:

EDIT: The TDK technology will make combination drives more plausible, but still they'll be much more expensive.
